Dr. Jane Hewes, Associate

Expertise: Qualitative Research, Focus Groups and Program Evaluation

Dr. Jane Hewes is Chair of the Early Childhood Education Program at Grant MacEwan College, and has been a project manager and consultant to a large number of community and professional groups. Her expertise in qualitative research has been applied to developing focus group and individual interview techniques as alternatives to traditional approaches to surveying and polling. She has also developed criteria and methodology to evaluate qualitative research processes and results.

Jane's academic credentials include an MA in Communications from Simon Fraser University and a PhD from the University of Alberta. She has authored a long list of academic and professional publications. Most recently she has been involved as an expert in federal government round tables on children’s issues related to poverty, care and education.
