Susan Abells, MAPartner, Abells Henry Public AffairsPresident, The Abells Group Inc. Expertise: Stakeholder Relations, Policy Analysis, Governance, Capacity Building, Communication Susan is an experienced facilitator, communications specialist, and policy analyst. Over the past 10 years, her work has centred on the environment, land use, health and education. Participation, information and integration are the fundamental elements of Susan’s consulting practice, as well as the building blocks of sustainable strategies and policies. Her engagement processes build trust, shared understanding and capacity. Susan has a Master’s degree (MA) in Political Science from the University of Alberta (2004) and an undergraduate degree (BA) in Art History from the University of British Columbia. Her research interests include social, economic and environmental policy, globalization, governance, learning and adaptive management. She has presented papers at many national and international conferences. Born and raised in Edmonton, Susan spent the first 15 years of her career working in the arts. She created and produced The Works, Canada’s only visual arts festival (1985-1990). As Executive Director of the Alberta Craft Council (1990-1997), Susan re-defined hand-made crafts as a cultural industry, developing innovative business training and marketing programs for the organization's 600 members. Susan currently lives in Victoria.
